We are not scoring how ChatGPT is received. Of 82 public posts we found, only 6 carried an opinion either way — and unlike our battles, which are judged by three models from three labs in both presentation orders, sentiment is read by a single model with no second opinion. That is not a strong enough instrument to put a number against. How we measure this.
Is it safe?
Four things worth knowing before you type anything into ChatGPT. Where ChatGPT says it itself, we quote them and link to the page we read it on.
What happens to what you type?
They use your conversations to train their AI models, but you can change your settings to stop this.
“we may use Content you provide us to improve our Services, for example to train the models that power ChatGPT. Read our instructions (opens in a new window) on how you can opt out of our use of your Content to train our models.”
They keep your conversations until you choose to delete them, after which they are removed within 30 days.
“Information we retain until you delete it: Some of our Services allow you to delete Personal Data stored in your account. For example, you can delete specific, or all, of your ChatGPT conversations”
Can it be wrong?
The company warns that the tool can make mistakes and says you should check the answers yourself before using them.
“Output may not always be accurate. You should not rely on Output from our Services as a sole source of truth or factual information”
What should you never type into it?
Until you turn training off in the settings, treat anything you type as something a stranger could one day read. Either way: never passwords, bank details or someone else's private information.
Do you have to give them a card?
No — there is a free version you can use without paying. The paid plans are extra, and you choose to take one.
