Replit
Is it safe?
Four things worth knowing before you type anything into Replit. Where Replit says it itself, we quote them and link to the page we read it on.
What happens to what you type?
Replit uses your personal data by default to improve its machine learning technologies, like code generation.
“we have a legitimate interest in using Personal Data for product development and internal analytics purposes, to improve the accuracy of our machine learning technologies such as code generation”
They keep your data for as long as they consider it necessary, without stating a specific time limit.
“We take measures to delete your data or maintain it in a de-identified form when it is no longer necessary to be kept in identifiable form”
Can it be wrong?
Replit explicitly warns that the code generated by its AI systems might contain errors or be incomplete.
“Code generated or suggested by our AI systems may be erroneous or incomplete.”
What should you never type into it?
Treat anything you type as something a stranger could one day read. No bank details, no medical details, no client work you were trusted with, no passwords.
Do you have to give them a card?
We could not confirm a free version from Replit’s pricing page, so assume you will need to pay.
