Windsurf
Is it safe?
Four things worth knowing before you type anything into Windsurf. Where Windsurf says it itself, we quote them and link to the page we read it on.
What happens to what you type?
They use the content you provide to train and improve their AI models, depending on your specific terms of service.
“using User Content to train, fine tune and improve the models that power our Services.”
They keep your information for as long as they need it to provide their services or comply with the law.
“We retain your personal information as needed to provide our Service to you, comply with legal obligations, or protect ours or others interests.”
Can it be wrong?
The company warns that the generated content might be inaccurate and requires your own review before use.
“Outputs may be inaccurate or inappropriate for your intended use cases, and Cognition disclaims all liability for any consequences arising from your use of, or reliance on, Output.”
What should you never type into it?
Treat anything you type as something a stranger could one day read. No bank details, no medical details, no client work you were trusted with, no passwords.
Do you have to give them a card?
We could not confirm a free version from Windsurf’s pricing page, so assume you will need to pay.
